Friedland Named Captain of Red Star

Archibald Friedland was introduced in a press event today as the first captain of Red Star Aalst. The 22 year old German goalkeeper was one of the more experienced players that the team signed, as youth seems to be the plan early on.

Manager Rickard Oberlander praised Friedland's work ethic and leadership skills while speaking to the media. "Archibald has all of the qualities that you could want from a captain" said Oberlander. "He has a great mentality and is always working hard on the training grounds. He really sets a good example for the rest of the team in all that he does."

For his part, Friedland was honoured to be given the captaincy. "Getting to wear the armband is an amazing distinction" said Friedland. "It's a responsibility that I don't take lightly and I hope that I am able to serve it well. Certainly looking forward to the challenge."
